FirstPlan Scholarship Deadline May 1, 2009

Students planning careers in health care fields are encouraged to apply for scholarships available through FirstPlan of Minnesota. Two separate scholarships are offered.

Founders Fund
FirstPlan Founders Fund scholarships are presented each spring to two high school seniors or
post-secondary students who are FirstPlan members. The scholarships honor the men and women who founded FirstPlan in 1944. Founders Fund scholarships are based on academics, community
or school involvement, character, leadership and career goals. Applications are due May 1 and are available at FirstPlan in Duluth and at most area high schools, or can be downloaded below.

Dr. Jerry Church Community Health Sustainers Award
This special memorial scholarship honors medical professionals who practiced in Two Harbors.
The Sustainers Award provides funds to help pay for the medical training of students planning to
serve as family practice physicians, nurse practitioners or registered nurses in rural areas.
Recipients must be accepted into the nursing program at The College of St. Scholastica or into the UMD School of Medicine and have attended highschool in northeastern Minnesota in on of
FirstPlan's serviced counties. Applications are due May 1 and are available at FirstPlan and at
the colleges, or can be downloaded below.
